THE IMPORTANCE OF SHARING CONSISTENTLY IN BIZ (+ HOW TO DO IT!)

Sharing content consistently soulful business

One common struggle I see with my clients, is that of being consistent.

Consistent in 'showing up'.

Consistent in posting to social media.

Consistent in creating and sharing blog posts/podcast episodes/vlogs/etc.

Consistent in sending out newsletters.

Being consistent is imperative when it comes to building a sustainable and profitable business.

Because consistency (if you're providing a high quality product and/or service of course!) creates a relationship and establishes credibility. And with credibility comes trust. And with trust comes a handing over of hard earned money (which is one of the reasons why we're in business, right?!)

Think about someone (aka a Life Coach) or something (aka an online program) you have invested in recently. I can almost guarantee that:

  1. It was/they were recommended to you, or

  2. You had been following their work (whether that be via a website with testimonials on it, regular social media posting or frequently published blog posts or newsletters) for some time, and, through their online presence, they had built a relationship and trust with you.

Am I right, or am I right?

Many biz women create amazing things - workshops, retreats, ebooks - that they promote the heck out of. This is awesome EXCEPT for the fact that, if the ground work has not been done and credibility and trust have not been established, it's not likely that people will invest.

Ask yourself - would you spend your money on something you didn't have faith in? In something you didn't know would actually work? In something you didn't think would help you solve the problem you were wanting solved?

I think not, honey.

This is where 'showing up' and being consistent comes into play.

Being consistent will look different for everyone.

The gal juggling a full time job and a side business will have less hours a day to 'show up' online than a gal who works for herself full time. A Mumma Bear will have less time to 'show up' in her biz than a single childless babe will. Working out how much time YOU have to show up is so very important.

(As a sidenote, I'd also like to add that having a balance between work and play in your life is one of the most valuable things you can do for yourself, and your business. I've met far too many women who have burned out from overexerting themselves in their businesses. The outcome? Poor mental health. Unhappy relationships. Resentment towards their business. No bueno my love!)

Thinking about consistency and how you want to 'show up' more in your business need not feel overwhelming honey. It's about setting goals, sticking to boundaries and showing up in a way that feels manageable, authentic and aligned.

Here's my top tips for showing up consistently in your business (in a way that feels delicious!)

Decide what 'showing up' consistently will look like for you, in your business.

How many hours a week do you have available to you? Choose a number that FEELS GOOD, MANAGEABLE AND SUSTAINABLE!

Consider how you want to 'show up'.

There's a million-and-one ways we can share online and unless you're Superwoman, there's no way in the world you'll be able to do it all.

Here's some food for thought:

  • What and how do you love to share (for me, it's writing! I can't think of anything less appealing than sitting in front of a video camera - HA!)?

  • What mode of communication is your ideal client most receptive to (with any luck there will be congruency between your preferred way of sharing and their preferred way of receiving information!)

Make a plan

If you decide that you have three hours a week to 'show up' in your business and that you love to share via your blog and Instagram posts, then schedule time into your calendar to do this!

Perhaps you spend 90 minutes a week writing a blog post.

45 minutes a week sharing your new blog post (via social media, your newsletter list, etc.)

That leaves you with 45 minutes in the week to post more generally to social media.

That's three hours of you showing up consistently and PURPOSEFULLY throughout the week.

That's three hours spent building TRUST with your ideal clients.

That's three hours spent making your life a whole lot easier when it comes time to promoting your services, offerings and products. Why? Because you've dedicated time to building and nurturing a relationship and trust with them!

Enlist support

If you're here, in this space, I know that you're a creative woman who has ideas for her business bursting out of ears. The fact of the matter is that there's only so many hours in the day to bring to life 'all the things' we want to. And sometimes, we need to enlist the help of others to help ease pressure and get things done.

That's why people like me exist -

  • To write your regular content for you (hello consistent newsletters and blog posts!)

  • To create new offerings for you (hello opt-ins, nurture sequences and ebooks!)

  • To write and submit words, on your behalf, to online publications (hello, new ideal clients!)

  • To take care of all the back-end-fiddly-admin-thingy's so you can get to work creating.

I encourage you to get really honest with yourself and evaluate how you've been 'showing' up in your business over the last few months.

Have you been consistent in your sharing?

Have you been prioritising building and nurturing your relationship with your ideal clients?

Enjoy this food for thought.
